Respirator is used when air quality is low. It is required to protect people from breathing contaminated and hazardous air particles.

The main objective of the respirator is prevent exposure to air contaminated with harmful dust, vapors, chemicals, fog, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, pesticides and other harmful gases that can cause severe illness.

When would you use a respirator?

Here we will discuss several circumstances that count as viable reasons to wear a respirator:

Pesticides use

For many toxic chemicals present in pesticides, breathing is the quickest route of entry into the circulatory system. While performing any pest control job you can easily get exposed to these chemicals which may cause serious illness or even death.

Wearing a respirator is the most effective way to save you from these harmful chemicals. Respirator filters out the hazardous vapors, gages, and fumes from being inhaled and provides a great protection while performing pest control job.

You should always wear a chemical cartridge respirator while applying or mixing pesticide chemicals.

Asbestos Removal

Mesothelioma is a certain type of cancer that is caused by asbestos exposure. Asbestos is very dangerous and it cause severe lung damage, respiratory issues and mesothelioma.

Asbestos is generally found in old buildings or houses. It is present in old floor tiles, pipe cement, siding, and in insulations.

Even during house construction or renovation you can get exposed to it as it is present in various sections of structure that has been not cleaned for longer period of time.

So if you are removing asbestos yourself or you are inspecting the progress of the job, you must protect your lungs by wearing a respirator. We must also recommend you to wear protective glasses while performing this task.

The filters that you must use for this task is p100 filters which efficiently block 99.9% of particles or contaminants in the air.

Mold exposure can cause variety of allergic reactions such as runny nose, coughing, wheezing, rash, and itchy eyes. Regular exposure to mold can also cause asthma or even more serious respiratory dieses.

For any homeowners, mold remediation is the only best solution to overcome this problem. So if you are performing any such task at your house then we recommend you to use N95 or P100 respirator mask which can filter out all the airborne particulates.

Spray Painting

Wearing a mask is the right thing to do while performing any spray painting job. You can wear the mask with filter P2 or P3 as they give great protection against these chemicals, fumes and vapors.

Smoke

Today smoke is a normal part of daily life. Be it pollution, wildfire, or other farm fire smoke, regular exposure to such smoke can cause severe illness and other lung diseases.

You must wear N95 or N100 types of masks to protect yourself from the harmful particulates present in different types of smoke. While wearing the mask to get protection from smoke you must check for the proper fit and the mask should give you a proper seal around your face.

 Various Dusts

You can wear dust mask if you want protection from dusts present in surrounding air but if you are working with some DIY project where paints, spray and other chemical are also present then you must wear a proper half face respirator.

Certain projects like clay painting, house renovation, garage dusting, wood working, sanding, etc needs a higher protection where a simple dust mask can’t help but respirator with filters certainly does.

Respirator with filters/cartridges is very effective in blocking different types of dusts such as wood, concrete/silica, chalk, and rubber.

These dusts are very harmful to health and silica dust can even cause cancer. For such harmful dust particles several masks comes with different rating depending on their efficiency in blocking dust type particulates.

Respirators with filters like P100 that filters out the 99.9% of the airborn particles are much effective.
